Stock Market Slows Amid Mixed Deals and Hesitation
Dealings slowed across the New York stock market with few openings and heavy transfers around two million shares. Key stocks like Schenley opened late and surged to near new highs while others such as Southern Pacific and Union Pacific showed weakened profits. Investors eyed inflation hedges as 1948 fiscal hopes faded amid cautious trading and dividends expectations.
