Mechanicville Rotary hears Army medical staff report
Captain Sherman Hirst of the U S Army Medical Corps told Mechanicville Rotary Club that Army medical care in the South Pacific was far superior to Japanese services. He praised portable surgical units near the front and noted malaria and dysentery as major postwar concerns, with Nagoya rubble illustrating Japan's defeat. He projected optimism about future demobilization and recruitment details were shared for local postings.
