DeSantis Pushes End to Housing Tax Abatements in Troy
Troy City Manager Ralph De Santis pledges to oppose future tax abatements for private low income housing such as Troy Towers. He argues abatements shift costs to property owners and burden taxpayers while high income sponsors profit from 236 program incentives. He seeks a state funded offset to replace lost tax revenue and warns current deals jeopardize fiscal balance and local services.
