Yanks Cleared Stavelot In Fierce Street Fight

Amid heavy fighting near Stavelot Belgium American forces repelled German attacks and pushed the enemy back across the Ableve River. Engineers and infantry backed by tank destroyers worked to retake bridges while 2,200 German prisoners were reported taken as doughboys pressed west through fog and fire.

Funeral attendance noted for Bert Hyatt in Battenville

South Cambridge mourners Mr and Mrs E R B Goodrich and Perce Geelan attended Bert Hyatt's funeral in Battenville on Wednesday. Edward B Goodrich and wife returned from Troy after visiting their son Malcolm. Other relatives and friends were guests of Maurice Amazon in Schenectady including the Gannon family and Roberta Albergine.
