Union Bank Board Moves To Issue Stock

This would raise capital to 4.0 million dollars and allow retirement of all preferred stock B. Directors expect surplus to rise by about 300,000 dollars, aided by undivided profits and reserves, with deposits growing from 6,071,651 on June 30, 1939 to 12,069,010 on June 38, 1984. The plan also eliminates regular preferred dividends and funds retirement costs. Initial annual dividend on new common stock set at 70 cents per share, yielding about 42 percent on par.
