Kido calls Tojo a war criminal in interview
In a taped interview Marquis Kido, Hirohito’s close advisor, labeled Hideki Tojo a war criminal and criticized attempts to trial Hirohito. He denied abdication reports, insisted he bears political responsibility but committed no crimes, and defended the emperor’s role in wartime policy. The piece also notes Kido’s stance on postwar prosecutions and a broader view of Japan’s leadership during the war.
