Risked Life to Get Storm Data
Professor Homer J. Dana of Washington State College engineered wartime static data for the Second Air Force. He logged over 800 hours since 1942 seeking the worst flying conditions to test radar and navigation, flying into violent weather over the Pacific and the Rockies despite near-fatal moments. Acknowledged by Maj. Gen. Robert B. Williams, his work supported the B-20 development and state-control research, and he has since been reassigned to finalize his project phase in Washington, D. C.
