Senator's Latin America trip allegedly inflates aid total

Senator Hugh A. Boiler and secretary Maurice Mumford traveled 20000 miles through Central and South America and the West Indies, carrying weapons and a large report on U. S. expenditures there. Miami clearance was waived after a busy call chain. The draft report lists about 8 to 10 billion dollars in commitments, with most items repeating or duplicative, sparking criticism that the figures are inflated for a Truman Committee inquiry.
