Casey Emphatic Declares He Won't Quit Leadership
Rensselaer County GOP Chairman Joseph F Casey insists he will not resign and plans to hold the office at least through June amid political intrigue. He denies reports he was pressured to give up his sergeant at arms post in the State Assembly Chambers, saying he was not asked to relinquish the job by Assembly Speaker Perry B Duryea. He hints he would follow Duryeas wishes if such a situation arose, while Republicans debate whether a majority of the 266 county committee members can oust him in a special session per Election Law.
