William F. Roberts aged 18 faces multiple charges after East Greenbush police pursued him from Third Avenue Extension and Fourth Street to Broadway and Herrick Street. Mental Hygiene chief says haste may have affected Wilson case

Albany Admitting that haste can cause mistakes state Mental Hygiene Commissioner Lawrence Kolb said he would be pleased to withdraw the recommendation that ax killer James W Wilson be released from a mental hospital. He spoke at the Albany County Court sanity hearing for the Loudonville man found not guilty by reason of insanity in the 1975 ax killing of his mother. The psychiatrist psychologist and psychiatric social worker who advised release admitted under questioning they had not known Wilson had killed with an ax or threatened to kill his sister and her children. The hearing resumes today.
