Area Flying Farmers session honors two area couples
Two area couples returned from Hot Springs Arkansas where they attended the 23rd annual International Flying Farmers convention. Edward Kyer Sr. and wife from White Creek and Paul Moseley and wife flew in the Moseley plane joining 1 200 Flying Farmers and families touring Gov. Winthrop Rockefeller’s Rock Farm noted for Ossbred beef cattle. The trip included a barbecue and visits to a Britique car museum among other stops. The group represented 45 chapters from the United States Canada and a family from British Honduras. Mrs. Kyer served as Vermont Chapter queen in a parade of 35 chapter queens and received a plaque from Cessna Corp. The International Queen is from Michigan and the Duchess from Illinois. The Moseley plane then headed to Lexington Kentucky for a tour of horse farms before visiting Akron Ohio to see the Kyers daughter and husband. The flight time from Hot Springs to Bennington Airport was ten hours.

Vermont state police recruit graduates marked by ceremony
Kenneth W. Herring of Hoosick Falls Francis L. Elwell of Bennington and Robert J. Collins of Latham were among 28 new Vermont state police recruits who received certificates. The graduates completed a 10 week Norwich University course totaling 395 hours of basic training and 200 hours of supervised study. Cpl. Edward Prescott, formerly of Hoosick Falls, was among the instructors.
