Veterans oppose Mitchell Bill over civil service preference
Joseph L. Fitzgerald, assistant state attorney general and veteran leader, criticized the Mitchell Bill at the Associated Veterans Organization meeting in Rensselaer County. He warned it would favor politically connected applicants, limit veteran benefits, and allow officers to choose from only three on the civil service list, with no job retention protection.
