Troy Lawyer To Appear In Hines Case
A Supreme Court session in Albany will hear the appeal of James J. Hines former Tammany leader denied parole by the State Parole Board. Marcus L. Filley of Schenectady, retained by Hines’ New York attorney Jacob Schientag, previously served as referee in the O Connor case affirming parole review of board decisions. O Connor, Brooklyn man convicted of public office misconduct, was denied parole then released on bail pending appeal. Hines was convicted in New York for lottery involvement and sentenced to Sing Sing, parole denied in June. The argument next Friday will cite Filley’s findings in the O Connor case.
