Wild Horse Bill Bans Mechanized Roundups on Public Lands

UPI reports Congress passed a bill sent to the Senate to outlaw mechanized roundups of wild horses on public lands. Rep Walter S. Baring introduced the measure at the urging of Velma Johnston of Wadsworth Nevada who has campaigned for years to stop what she calls inhumane mustang roundup methods. She testified that moneyed interests lure horses from remote areas with planes and trucks, exhausting them before selling them for pet food. The House approved the bill on Monday to prohibit such practices on public lands.
