Rationing of Meat Nearing End
Secretary of Agriculture Anderson said it may be possible to end meat rationing in the very near future possibly as early as September. He noted demand and supply prospects show civilian meat supplies rising sharply and that October to December per capita availability could reach 425 pounds versus 126 pounds earlier this year. Improvement stems from cutbacks in military needs while uncertainty remains over funds for export to war-liberated Europe and faster cattle marketings.

Industrial output projections for third quarter outlined
The forecast lists items like 060 dozen garbage cans and 250000 pails, with cutlery such as pocket knives and scissors limited by steel demand. It cites about 8000000 dollars worth of cutlery and 96900000 dollars of enamelware to be produced, much for military use, while baby carriages may drop to 400000 units. Film and lamps production nears capacity, with much film redirected to military needs.
