Hoosick Falls resident named historic site caretaker

Edward F. Zilinskas of Hoosick Falls has been appointed Historic Site Caretaker for Bennington Battlefield Park in Walloomsac New York with formal notice dated July 14 1977. He will relocate with his family and operate his restaurant business until a caretaker house is established.

County Supervisor urges study of form of government

Saratoga Springs Supervisor Fred McNeary urged the Saratoga County Board of Supervisors to study a possible change from the current district representative system. He cited population growth and complexity of governance since 1791 and suggested considering options like a county manager or at large system. Meager support emerged as Malta Supervisor David Meager backed the idea, while others deferred to the law and finance committee and legislative research group for action. In other business the board reappointed Edward Tracy as real property tax director and approved several fund-seeking authorizations.

Stillwater Democrats select candidates for local offices

Stillwater voters nominated Andy Mohan for a second term as town supervisor. Other nominees include Thomas Kinisky for councilman, Gerald Brewster for councilman, Art Patterson for highway superintendent, Joan Ronda for town clerk, James Moredock for town justice, Edward Finigan for four year assessor, Ronald McNeil for two year assessor, and Jean Potter for tax collector. Democratic chairman Paul Lilac said Mohan tops a strong slate with five incumbents seeking reelection.

Woman injured in South Main Street crash

A 31 year old woman was treated and released from Leonard Hospital after losing control of her car and hitting a parked vehicle on South Main Street. Drakong Hawthorne 31 of Stillwater was injured in the 2 50 am crash. No tickets were issued.

Storybook Parade in Mechanicville Aug 24

Mechanicville District Public Library hosts the annual Storybook Parade on August 24. Children dress as storybook characters and form at the library at 10 30 a m. at Park Plaza judges award prizes then return for refreshments. Mechanicville Man Arrested Over Backyard Marijuana Grow

A 20 year old Mechanicville man Dennis Coleman was arrested on a state health law violation for growing marijuana. Police found about 60 plants behind his Bennington Avenue home and burned them behind the station after detaining him at about 11 a m Monday. The street value was estimated at about $2000.
