A major renovation of Albany's 66 year old State Capitol progresses as workers install scaffolding and mezzanines across the third to fifth floors. The $8,000,000 modernization aims to finish by the end of 1950, following begun work in 1946 after prior minor updates since 1883.

Crews will install new floors and seals, construct mezzanines, and rework the Senate lobby and Assembly areas with a completion projected in 1950 depending on winter work stoppages.
