Castleton Farmer F N Lemka Dies at 78

Frederick N Lemka a longtime Castleton area farmer died at home after a long illness at 78. He was a member of East Greenbush Reformed Church East Greenbush Grange and director of the Capital District Regional Market. Survived by wife Jessie M Mead two daughters two sons a sister and 15 grandchildren. Funeral Friday at 2 pm from Gordon Funeral Home East Greenbush with Rev Chester Chilton officiating. Interment Mountain View Cemetery Castleton.

Fire unit to host spaghetti and meatball supper

Firemen of Pumper 3 of East Herrick Streets Rensselaer will hold a spaghetti and meatball supper at the fire house to close their winter social program. A cocktail hour runs 7 to 8 PM, followed by the meal prepared by Mrs. Olivette D'Ambrose. Alex Lombardi and William Carney serve as cochairmen. reservations close tomorrow night.

Whitbeck Dies at 84 Retired New York Central Engineer

James F. Whitbeck Sr. 84 of 934 Broadway Rensselaer died Monday at Albany Memorial Hospital after sudden illness. A retired engineer with New York Central Railroad he was an honorary member of Farmers and Mechanics Lodge Odd Fellows and a member of Capitol District Railroad Pensioners Club and Brotherhood of Locomotive Firemen and Engineers. Survived by wife Ethel Brockett daughter Edith Van Gelder son James F. Whitbeck Jr brother Frank Whitbeck seven grandchildren and five great grandchildren. Funeral arrangements are from William J Rockefeller Funeral Home 8 Second Ave Rensselaer with interment at Elmwood Cemetery West Sand Lake.

Grafton residents guests from Wil liamstown and Danbury spent weekends with local families. Mrs. C Gardner flew to Boston on April 14 to visit her daughter at Katherine Gibbs School. The Grafton Youth Commission plans a teen movie at the elementary school at 7 pm with a record hop to 11 pm. Sunday shows Snow White and the Three Stooges at 2 pm for younger group.

Bus Involved In Route 43 Crash Near Averill Park

A West Sand Lake woman was injured in a two car collision on Route 43 near Averill Park as a school bus was hit at the same spot yesterday morning. The icy curve and ensuing multi vehicle crash involved James Bashford and Georgena Patti among others. Patty was cited for failure to keep right. Several passengers, including school children, were checked but none reported injuries. Bashford and Patti were hospitalized with injuries.

Miss Moore Dies Retired Cluett Aide at 153 Fifth Ave

Miss Helen M. Moore of 153 Fifth Avenue died yesterday at Samaritan Hospital after a brief illness. A native of the South End she attended St Joseph's Academy and worked at Cluett Peabody & Co until retirement. Surviving is sister Miss Margaret Moore of Troy. Data Processing Unit Tours New York State Works Bureau

A Data Processing Unit from the Hudson Mohawk Chapter of the DMA toured the Bureau of Electronic Data Processing at the New York State Department of Public Works in Albany. The bureau handles computerized control for planning, engineering, research, maintenance, and administration in highway construction and other public works contracts valued over $1 billion.

Sing Out Sets Three May Shows in Troy area

The cast of Sing Out Upstate League of Troy announces three May shows starting May 18 and plus an outdoor date. Nearly 100 young actors from 15 colleges and schools rehearse at St Joseph's Church Hall and Troy High School gym.
