Lansingburg Group Proposes Park Improvements Drive

Adaran Sanctorum to Confer Degree in Indy Friday Night

The Adaran Sanctorum of the Ancient Mystic Order of Sama will confer degrees on two classes of candidates at the Fayorm Sanviarum in Sehenee, Indy, Friday night under the direction of Floyd E. Bronson. Henry E. Tage, grand monarch, will be in charge.

Waterford honors top graduates and other seniors

Waterford High School named Miss Justina O Connor valedictorian and Miss Dorothy Burgess salutatorian for the 1947 graduating class. Seven other seniors were cited for honors, including Charles Christopher and Ruth Bullack. O Connor plans to study at New York State College for Teachers. Burgess will attend Russell Bayes College for physical education. Both will be honored at commencement in June.

State Considers Widening Troy Schenectady Road

The state may widen and rebuild the busy Troy Schenectady Road this year if construction steel is available. It aims to widen from 40 to 52 feet, creating two lanes each side while keeping a central mall. Major obstacles include traffic control coordination and extending into Watervliet, which could affect a grade crossing.

Emma Willard Swimmers Head to Colgate Water Festival

Twelve Emma Willard School swimming club members travel to Hamilton for the water festival during Colonia University's alumni weekend. Local students Nancy Kahn, Bibi Pattison, Caryn Taylor, and Mato Waeneke join the group led by Miss Corretta Fi. The team will present the water leaflet program from the recent Emma Willard education demonstration.

Auto Suit Ends Upstate Term in Hudson Falls Court

A Hudson Falls session of the Washington County Supreme Court will hear the final case of the term. Justice Andrew W. Ryan presides over a suit by the Grand Union Co against Richard Garrard over a collision in Whitehall on Sept 8, 1948. Frederick Abett seeks $50,000 in property damages with counter claims for $10,000 personal injuries. Abell, treated at Glens Falls Hospital, was among the injured. Settlements were announced in several accompanying actions involving Wanerville residents and Fort Miller cases from 1944 to 1946, resolving negligence and warranty disputes.

State pays $40,000 for Onondaga dam project

About 700 spectators gathered as the first dirt was turned for the dam reconstruction to hold back Onondaga Creek. State officials announced a $40,000 payment and right of way privileges accepted by Onondaga leaders, with Chief Josn Lyo n and Chief Das qurer noted among speakers.
