West Sand Lake Fire Department Instalment Event

West Sand Lake officers and fire department members were installed with John Leary as master of ceremonies and Sergeant Robert S. Schneeman as speaker. Earl D. Stiles was named fireman of the year, receiving a trophy from Chief Arthur Miller. Emma Wicks presented a check to Charles Deutsch. Activities included a church invocation by Rev. Roger A. Day and an evening of entertainment led by James Bonesteel. The WSCS will hold a spring rummage sale today and tomorrow at the Methodist church hall, with a Youth Fellowship food sale tonight. The Couples Club at Salem Evangelical United Brethren Church seeks newspapers and magazines through April 29.

Arbor Day Exercises at Miller Hill School Today

Residents are invited to Arbor Day events at Miller Hill Elementary at 2 30 p m with 1 45 p m parent arrival. N Y S Conservation Department reps Damon E Ormsby and Edward F White will speak. A tree planting ceremony and student poems and songs are planned. Principal Edward J Slosek will give the welcome. Plan Coffee House at Averill Park Methodist Church April 29 with Des and Juliet Rainey and Don Juan in Hell excerpts. Master of ceremonies is Rev James J Borden. Coffee House showcases folk arts and literature. The annual music concert is tonight at Averill Park Senior High School at 7 30 with Middle School band and chorus and elementary chorus groups.

Firemen Called In South End Fire at 361 Fourth St

Troy firefighters answered box 146 just before 2 pm yesterday and found smoke issuing from the rear of 361 Fourth Street, south of Canal Avenue. First reports say the blaze was confined to a second floor wall.
