X ray Screening in 1948 Estimates Non Tuberculous Chest Diseases
Dr Plunkett projects nationwide impact of mass chest X ray surveys. He estimates 1948 New Jersey sees 43000 patients with non tuberculous conditions and 54000 general hospital patients would benefit from such diagnosis. Nationally about 13 million admissions age 15 plus would yield 70000 with infectious tuberculosis and 100000 with likely inactive tuberculosis, plus about 1800000 showing other chest diseases if universal screening existed.
