Winter Stages Comeback In Northwest
A severe winter snowstorm swept across the high plains of Western Nebraska and Kansas causing heavy accumulation in McCook with 19 inches of snow. Kearney saw drifting cars from ten inches while Concordia and North Platte reported two inches and two inches respectively. Sub-freezing temperatures raised livestock concerns amid poor feed conditions. A dust storm in the Oklahoma Panhandle reduced visibility to under a mile. Local ranchers warned of heavy losses as the storm disrupted farm work and cattle and sheep safety.
