Preventive mental hygiene urged at public health meeting
At the American Public Health Association convention in Cleveland Dr Mitton A. Seidenfeld urged six principles to guide prophylactic mental hygiene. He cited 67.5 per 1000 examined by Selective Service as having disorders severe enough to affect military service. He criticized past prevention efforts and outlined realistic education, problem solving within social groups, tailored conformity, adaptive coping, stress tolerance testing, and meaningful creative outlets as key strategies.
