Need For Garage Clarified Before Balloting Today
Colonie residents vote today on a plan including a new junior high, two elementary schools, and bus storage at Colonie Central High School. Superintendent Kenneth E. Tribley argues a heated bus garage at the site will save money, reduce maintenance, and prevent vandalism. The garage is estimated at 234000 dollars with 12000 to improve the current facility, part of a 7725980 dollar district bond package.

Budgets Fail To Show Surpluses In Albany Fire District
The State Department of Audit and Control charges Colonie Albany Fire District commissioners did not include $7,166 in surpluses in 1863 and 1864 budgets, which would have cut taxes. Auditors found fund balances of $3,108 at end of 1961 and $4,000 at end of 1963 should have reduced the levy. Travel expense claims lacked supporting evidence for 1962 and 1963. the district carries $8,000 in bonded debt. Minutes did not show audits of the fire district treasurer’s records for 1962 and 1963, and budgets for both years were omitted from the commissioners’ minutes.
