Third market trades and minor gifts in finance
A reader asks about selling a large block in an inactive stock via the third market and notes that such brokers may not handle all listed stocks. The expert explains the third market trades off exchanges, the need to find a suitable broker, and the likelihood the $10 stock is excluded. He adds that a direct sale is possible if a buyer is found. Next, a query about revoking minor gifts under gifts to minors acts: irrevocable by law. Consult a lawyer to avoid future headaches. A separate Q discusses no load mutual funds and confirms brokers are bypassed, urged to read the prospectus. Mr Doyle will answer general questions in The Record Newspapers.
