Rev Allen K Claxton PhD minister of Broadway Temple in New York City will be the guest preacher at the Lent service at First Avenue Methodist Church tomorrow night at 7 20 pm. Dr Claxton born in Henderson, Illinois earned his bachelor degree at the University of Illinois. He studied at Boston University and earned S T B from a college then lectured at Allegheny College. Rev Luther Patton of the host church will preside. Rev Lester Rosa of Jermain Memorial Presbyterian will read scripture and lead prayers. Mrs John Waters is guest soloist with Mrs Lloyd Goothout at the organ.

In Watervliet the Civic Center will start spring softball programs for Junior Midget and Girls teams. The Junior Loop opens April 18 with six 13 to 15 year olds. registrations close April 12. Last year’s champions were the Penguins. The Midget League begins April 22 with six teams for 11 to 13 year olds. top team earns a cup. Obituary of George Cebula and parish rites in Troy
The funeral for George Cebula began at 8 30 a m yesterday at Washington Park Funeral Home in Troy and continued with a solemn Mass at the Church of the Immaculate Conception officiated by Rev Boleslaus M Watroba assisted by Rev Bronislaus J Men ides and Rev Boleslaws J Dobraytc hi. Lao Symanski was organist. Bearers included Willard McCraw Raymond Miller Christopher Pahien Joseph O Keefe William Cummings and George Nash. Interment followed at Immaculate Conception Cemetery Colonie with Father Watroba officiating. The Ladies Aid Society of Jerman Memorial Presbyterian Church plans a rummage sale April 16 and 19 at 61 Ferry Street Troy. The Rosary Society of Sacred Heart of Mary Church will receive Holy Communion in a body tomorrow.
