The writer recalls a trip to Pike County and visits the farm of Mr. Jas. Kissinger. Through Mr. Tip Wells they view an imported European short horn herd with two year old bulls weighing 1480 to 1800 pounds. The herd, praised as possibly the finest in the West, plus a line of premier Berkshire hogs, are presented as top stock for improvement in Lincoln and surrounding counties.
The act prohibits druggists from selling intoxicating liquor in quantities under one gallon without a dram shop license, with exemptions for medical use upon physician written consent and sacramental wine sales. Penalties include fines from forty to two hundred dollars for dealers, and similar criminal penalties for false prescriptions or certificates. The bill repeals conflicting statutes and clarifies enforcement. Capt. Bart Abie died at his St. Louis residence on the 6th.
A midfall market summary notes corn and wheat unsettled with lower bids, mixed futures and thinning cash sales. Cattle demand remains strong with buyers paying premiums, hogs sell briskly to shippers at solid prices, and stock quantities ample in large yards.

In Carrollton a church member gave Elder D. M. Granfield and his companion a carpet as a gift after admiring it at Baum & David. The reverend denied ordering it, then the young clerk produced a note reading Compliments of the lady members of the Christian Church of Carrollton to Elder D. M. Grandfield and lady, a pleasant surprise and valued gesture.
The speaker commits to delivering milk for 20 cents a gallon cream at 15 cents a quart and butter milk at 10 cents a gallon starting May 15, signed Maus. Ticum Mammonp.
