Miss Mary D. Thurmond visits. Mrs. Lindell stays with kin. Miss Sheva Woore returns from St Louis. Frogs scarce. local concerts, school events, and county court actions noted. A long letter on Civil War memories includes Jeff Davis toast anecdotes and a dog death sketch. Also ads and notices about goods, conveyances, and insurance.
A four foot long rattlesnake was killed by Mr. Anderson on the old Riggs farm after it struck at him. Also noted is the sudden death of Mr. Hammett of Louieville while dining, leaving a destitute family. Local ads advertise repairs for farm machinery and watch repairs with a 25 percent savings.
The report lists varied prices for fabrics and goods at Woonronk and Mann's in Nev and notes W. F. Luck of Durr Oak suffered an altercation two weeks ago at Salem. He was found unconscious and remains bed bound though showing some improvement.
In town during the week, ice will be sold at one cent per pound. E. G. Hammonn announces the bargain and directs buyers to the location for ice delivery.
Weell Weel offers the highest market price for wool. Don's sells until the bid is met, promising prompt payment and a strong offer. Woolrotk and Land advertise ongoing purchasing for wool products and related materials.
Wool carding progress noted as Lewis Vertreon repairs his carding machine and reports better performance than before, with July 14 cited as a capacity date. The machine now aims to satisfy all patrons with general satisfactory output.
