The county board at Troy on the 6th adopted several textbooks for five years. Townsend's Civil Government was contested and likely to be ignored by teachers. The rest of the list includes Webster's Speller, McGuffey's Readers, Ray's Arithmetic, Ray's Algebra, Butler's Grammar, Montaith's Geography, Anderton's History, Quackenbos' Philosophy, Gow's Morale and Manners, Krust's Drawing, and Townsend's Civil Government. The decision, amid hasty sessions, faced opposition to centralization in federal control. Other notes cover Wentville Dramatic Association, local entertainments, and various community notices.
The sixth annual meeting will be held in Bt Lewis on the 12th 18th 14th and 16th of the month. Wooutrock & Gorpoy advertise winter goods with new prices. A farmer quip about keeping a boy at home is included.
