In St Louis on December 17 buyers and sellers showed little interest in wheat with no cash sales. No. 2 red winter traded around 141 while futures drifted, and corn showed modest activity with No 2 mixed around 42 1-2. Leaf tobacco demand improved slightly but prices held. Cattle and hog markets featured steady beef and rising hog prices as packers paid 690 to 725 for hogs and 260 to 275 for cows, with steady close for packers.
The Troy Social Library Association holds its annual meeting in the county court room on Monday evening January 8 1876 at six thirty sharp to elect officers for the year. Members urged to attend especially those from the Ladies Library club who have not signed the constitution and by laws and warned of fines for absentees.
