Outstanding 4-H members and clubs honored at the Bremer County 4-H Awards Banquet near Riviera Ballroom. Nancy Dove Marvin Orth led Danforth Awards. numerous achievement leadership agriculture home economics and project awards were presented to many youth, with about 440 attendees. The Wapsie Whirlwinds Frederika and Polk Bustlers Plainfield clubs named outstanding clubs for the year.

Final Rites for Helene Karsten Held at Waverly Church
Funeral services for Mrs. Helene Karsten wife of Grace Lutheran’s first Tripoli pastor were held at St. Paul’s Lutheran Church Waverly with burial at Harlington cemetery. She died November 14 at Bartels Lutheran Home Waverly. Survivors include two daughters Mrs Paul Weltner and Esther Karsten of Waverly three sons Erwin of Sterling Colorado Rev Ernst of San Diego and Arnold of Pittsburgh plus one brother Paul Kummrow of Celon Minnesota. She was the wife of A F Karsten deceased first pastor at Grace Lutheran Church 1901 1902.

Iowa Highway Patrol examined licenses this Saturday morning issuing 50 operator and 14 chauffeur licenses plus 11 instruction permits and 3 temporary driving permits. Steven Schwemm, 18, was rushed to Allen Memorial Hospital after a corn picker accident Sunday afternoon.
