Sumner Defeats Tripoli 18 to 0 in Cold Weather Crowd

Sumner high school beat Tripoli 18 to 0 on the local field Friday afternoon before a large crowd despite arctic temperatures. Morf and Schug scored touchdowns in the first half with no extra points. Final quarter saw Frisch add a TD after a Tripoli fumble, while Frese advanced to the five yard line but failed to convert as the drive ended on downs.

Bankers Trial Costs Detailed in Mitchell County Record

A schedule of costs for the three Tripoli bankers case in Mitchell county shows total trial costs of 658.35 dollars excluding prosecutors fees. Birthday party honors veterans at Marshalltown hospital

Thirty nine Auxiliary members from Bremer county units visit World War veterans at the Marshalltown Old Soldiers' Home and Hospital. Each man receives a pound of homemade candy. The event, directed by Mrs. Roy Pell, honors birthdays for the month. Aged residents include a 108 year old inmate of the home.

George W Christophel Dies at 51 in Waverly

Waverly Wisconsin obituary notes former state legislator George W Christophel aged 51 died at his home Sunday November 13 after a heart illness. Fire destroys Sumner creamery warehouse. $30,000 loss

A Thursday night blaze at Pennington & McGuiness Creamery Supply Co. warehouse in Sumner caused about 30,000 dollars in damage, with roughly one fifth likely covered by insurance. Overheated stove cited. Sumner and Tripoli fire crews contained the fire, saving two company trucks and the office addition. All records saved and no damage to nearby buildings. Autowner D. J. Dr Claus Delivers Legion and Auxiliary Membership Cards

The local post surpassed its quota of 45 by two members and the Auxiliary met 49. Tragedy in County Seat: Miss Kusian Found Dead

Miss Esther Kusian 36 was found dead at her home last Thursday by her mother, Martha Miller. Health issues and recent financial troubles are noted, with a revolver used in the self-inflicted shot. She had lived in the city nineteen years after moving from Warren township and is survived only by her mother. Funeral services were held at Koch funeral home with Rev. Elmer E. Obituary: Mrs Fredericke Manthey 72 Dies at Home

Mrs Fredericke Manthey aged 72 formerly of Bremer county died at her home after a weeklong illness of heart trouble. Born August 22 1860 in Illinois she moved to Warren township as a child and later married Henry Manthey in Charles City in 1888. Longtime German-born Mrs Schmidt dies at 87

Mrs C W T Schmidt, 87, died at her home Friday after weeks of illness and two summer falls. Born in Germany in 1845 she came to America at age 13. She was the oldest member of St Pauls Lutheran church and a charter member of its Ladies Aid Society. Survived by husband, son Herman Schmidt of Dubuque, and daughters Dora Dickinson of El Campo Texas and Mrs George W Hughes of Cedar Falls. Funeral Monday at 1:30 pm from home and 2 pm at St Pauls Lutheran Church with Rev R C Schlueter officiating. Burial in Harrington Cemetery.

Ernest Hartman and Al Bork of Nashua were arrested Tuesday evening by Bert Fowler and Bill Ducker on drunkenness charges. Hartman was fined 10 and costs by Mayor F A Osincup, while Bork lost his driving license for one year for driving while intoxicated.

Louis Kuker Dies at 85 in Tripoli Area Home

Louis Kuker 85 died Thursday morning November 10 at the home of his daughter Mrs William Lohman near Tripoli from complications of an illness. He was born in the area and had long been a resident of the region. He leaves a widow and several children. Funeral arrangements are pending.
