Parents and the public are invited to Tripoli Public Schools Visitation Night on Wednesday November 16. The event begins at 8 p m with a welcome in the gymnasium and includes classroom visits for elementary parents and abbreviated high school schedules with teacher briefings. Refreshments follow in the gym.
Oliver Super Field Day sponsored by Gus Buls Implements Friday from 10 a m to 3 p m at a site three miles north of the junction of Highways 63 and 9. Farmers can see and operate new Oliver tractors including Super 99 diesel with 5 bottom plow and Super 88 diesel with 4 bottom. A Super 77 with 3 bottom and a Super 55 diesel with 2 bottom plows will also be displayed along with a Super 77 diesel with a 13 foot double disk wheel barrow. The implement company is at the junction of Highways 63 and 93.
Paul Zabel, who has bought a home in Tripoli, will hold a closing out sale at his farm four miles north and a quarter mile west of town next Tuesday starting 12:30 PM. Hay grain farm machinery equipment and household goods are offered. Earl Newburn is auctioneer and American Savings Bank will clerk.
Traditional delivery of Christmas Seals will occur Wednesday November 16 with postmen and rural carriers delivering 5 500 letters to Bremer County residents for the Tuberculosis and Health association. 22 town and township chairmen sign the 1955 Christmas Seal Sale appeal.
Readlyn special report. Last rites for Mrs. August Klemp 83 were held Monday at Matthias Funeral Home Denver and St. Matthew's Lutheran Church Readlyn. Rev. Erich Dornbusch presided. She died Thursday at a daughter's home. Burial was in the church cemetery. Casket bearers included Duane Milks Herbert Hagenow Cecil Wyatt August Klemp Robert Klemp Willis Ross. Survived by two daughters Mrs. Hagenow and Mrs. Walter Heinemann Readlyn and a son Arthur Readlyn.
Two accidents on Highway 3 near Readlyn and west of the junction with 63 were blamed on icy pavement Monday. Mrs. Edwin Tegtmeier escaped serious injuries when her 1955 Buick skid and veered into a ditch west of the junction. A Hampton couple, Mr and Mrs Harry Knight, were hospitalized at Mercy hospital Waverly after their car skidded into a ditch and caused cuts and bruises. their condition was listed as good Tuesday.
Funeral services for Fred A. Dohrmann 66 who died last Wednesday were held Sunday at Rettig Funeral home and Grace Lutheran church with pallbearers named. He had been ill since October and retired from Farmers Produce Co. earlier this year. Survived by wife Dorothea Judas and three daughters, plus siblings and grandchildren.

Sunday evening visitors of Mr. and Mrs. Fred Brase were Mr. and Mrs. George Bisbey of Waterloo.
The Tripoli Community Chest reports total donations of 2612.00, surpassing the 2595.00 quota with several memberships still to be counted. E. H. Stehn led the commercial division with 1029.75, Ray H. Fink captained the east residential area, and other area captains included Mrs. Herold Miller in the west, L. H. Bunger in the south, and C. C. Eichmann in the north. Other contributions came from Paul Voetmann, Ed Buchholz, and Mrs. Lowell Goodenbour, with the drive marking the last welfare fundraiser for the year and a new campaign planned for October 1956.
Mr and Mrs E J Fink Lois Lohmann and FE H Stehn attend a dinner and meeting in Oelwein tonight as guests of Interstate Power Co.
Pvt and Mrs Randall Niedert depart on furlough to Petersburg Virginia where Pvt Niedert is stationed with the armed forces. He along with his wife spent time with relatives and friends in the area before leaving Wednesday morning for active duty.
There will be no mail service in Tripoli this Friday due to the Veteran's Day holiday. There will be no window service or rural delivery and American Savings Bank will be closed. Other Tripoli businesses remain open per the Commercial club schedule.
Readlyn High School rosters show boys and girls basketball players training for the 1955 56 season. Boys include Matthias Poock Heinemann Sickles Happel Meyerhoff Matthias Ostrogge Matthias Platte Matthias and center trio. Girls feature Kuethe Sauerbrei Lobeck Lo beck Bast Lobeck Thurm Otto Huebner Piehl Buhr Matthias as listed letter winners.

Tripoli High School juniors stage the family comedy Money Mad in the school auditorium Friday at 8 p m directed by Grace Gaffey. Frederika residents attend a funeral for Carl Kammeyer 77 who died of pneumonia and complications. Services were held at Rettig Funeral Home Tripoli and St. John's Lutheran church with Rev. A A Krause in charge. He was born in Hanover Germany April 13 1878 and survived by his wife Minnie a son Arthur Frederika two daughters Marina Readlyn and Lucille Waverly two brothers Ernest Tripoli and William Caldwell Idaho ten grandchildren and one great grandson. He was preceded by a daughter Frieda Mrs Carl Westendorf and a brother and sister.
The Brotherhood of St. Peters Evangelical Church sponsors a chili oyster supper in the church basement on Thursday November 10. Serving begins at 5 30 p m. Menu includes chili oysters sandwiches cake and coffee. Adults 75 cents children 50 cents.
The W S C S sponsors a chicken supper and bazaar in the church basement at Frederika on Thursday evening November 17. Serving starts at 5 30. Adults cost 1 00 and children 50 cents.
Voter turnout was low in Tripoli Frederika Readlyn and Denver with few contests reported. In Tripoli Mayor Rudolph Piegers and C C Eichmann were elected without opposition along with five council members. Frederika elected Clair Davison mayor and five new council members plus Fred Rewoldt as treasurer. Readlyn re elected Mayor Fred Hartman and formed a new council. Denver had the only contested race with Lorenz Doepke defeating incumbent mayor Albert Thieman and four of six council seats going to new or incumbent candidates.
Richard Mathews Bremer county extension director resigned last Thursday night at an Extension Council meeting. He will take a field man position for the Holstein Friesian association covering Iowa and Illinois and plans to move to Rockford Illinois in December. He has headed the county extension for over two years after transferring from West Pottawattamie and Mahaska counties. The office will move to Tripoli in December with a five year lease after remodeling the Frese building.
Funeral services were held Tuesday for Mrs. August Strottmann 87 who died Friday at Waverly Convalescent home. Rev Erich Dornbusch led services at Matthias Funeral Home Denver and St Matthew s Lutheran church Readlyn. Casket bearers were Wilson Milius Warren Teisinger Arthur Poock Henry Harnisch Harold Kehe and Harold Dravis. She was born February 6 1868 and survived by three sons Clarence Herman Alfred and two daughters Christine Milius and Adele Thiemann.
The Wapsie Sportsmen's club distributes free hunting with permission signs to farmers in Tripoli. The signs read Hunting With Permission Only and are available at taverns, restaurants, service stations and other merchants. The effort supports good will between hunters and farmers in the area.
Vandalism at Fremont No 8 school caused broken windows and a damaged water system. Six windows were broken and a large tree branch forced into a window while posts for basketball back boards were torn out. Authorities seek information to arrest those responsible.
Ted Bock announces a closing out farm sale set for Tuesday January 3 with Or ville Naber as auctioneer.
Tripoli High School announces the boys and girls basketball teams will start the 1955 56 season next Tuesday hosting Fredericksburg. Coach Ted Olmstead returns five lettermen, lists strong junior and sophomore contingents, and previews a deep squad and an extensive schedule through February including a county tournament.
Erwin Volker, employed at Ruhr Chevrolet Co., broke his right arm and bruised his heel and other injuries when he fell from a ladder on the sidewalk while removing banners from the building. He did not require hospitalization.
Denver special report states 12 year old Marjorie Saunders remained in fair condition at Allen Memorial hospital Waterloo after a car struck the pony she rode. She suffered brain concussion and thigh contusions when thrown from the animal which died in the crash. The Iowa Highway Patrol says the accident happened on Highway 63 south of Denver Saturday at about 1 30 p m. A Waterloo driver Richard Olds escaped with minor scratches.
Mr and Mrs H H Bull were Sunday dinner guests of Mr and Mrs Fred Doepke in a social note reflecting domestic visitors and hospitality.
