The Denver Lions Club received a letter of recognition from Robert D. McCullough for excellent membership growth in 1970-71. Forty acres of corn were shelled on the Robert Rathbone farm Thursday afternoon. Lloyd Moeller Virgil Bull Gary Stromer Bob Schmidt used combines while Elmer Wittenburg and Lester Peters brought car corn pickers. Helpers included Mrs. Elmer Wittenburg Mrs. Lester Peters Phil Snyder Howard Tegtmeier Vern Bolte Vernon Kirchhoff and Melvin Platte. Trucks were donated by Tripoli Feed and Grain Howard Tegtmeier Phil Snyder and Jack Snyder. Elmer Wittenburg organized the event and Mrs. Ernest Schedtler aided with dinner. Earlier Bob Kammeyer and Larry Otto harvested beans and corn for the recovering Mr Rathbone.
