Bremer County Bicentennial Celebration Planned Parade June 12
Bremer County Bicentennial events outlined by the committee include a 10:00 parade with antique vehicles high school bands Denver Plainfield Tripoli Sumner and Waverly Shriner units and Jemer County Century Farms recognition. An 1:00 p.m. program on the high grounds features a Bicentennial Flag presentation and remarks by visiting legislators and mayors followed by a square dance Little German Band Kitchen Klatter Band and youth contests. An eight team softball tourney and museum open house are also scheduled with a parade route proposed from the high school east to Main Street through the business district then to Grace Lutheran Church and back.

Tripoli Post Office will cut window service by one hour daily starting June 1. Hours drop to 8:30 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. and 1:30 to 5:00 p.m. Monday through Friday, with Saturday hours unchanged 8:30 to 10:30 a.m. Box lobby remains 7:00 a.m. to 7:00 p.m. Monday through Saturday.

The Tripoli Leader will close Monday May 31 for Memorial Day but will publish on Wednesday as usual. Advertising deadline for the June 2 issue is Saturday noon and news copy is due by 10:00 a.m. Tuesday. Memorial Day is officially observed on the last Monday in May.

Funeral Rites in Colorado for David Dunahoo 42
The funeral for David M. Dunahoo 42 was held at Heritage Baptist Church Colorado Springs with Rev Norman Blake and burial at Memorial Gardens Cemetery. Dunahoo a Thrifty Nickel salesman died Monday at Penrose Hospital born Oct 12 1933 in Waverly Illinois attended University of Northern Iowa served in the army until 1953. He married Betty Sigworth August 28 1957 and is survived by Betty a son David Michael II two sisters Kathleen Dunahoo and Valitha Schlatter his mother Josephine Dunahoo two nieces and a nephew. The second shipment of Tripoli Woman’s Club cookbooks is available from any member. Regular Tripoli Jaycees meeting 7:00 p.m. Wednesday May 26 at the Tripoli VFW home.

Panthers Fall to Sumner in Baseball Opener
Tripoli High School opened its season with a 6 to 3 loss at Sumner. Tripoli had four hits and three runs. Dave Alcock collected two hits and two RBIs, with Dave Hoffman and Craig Bruns adding one hit each. The Panthers trailed 3 to 0 after three innings, then 4 to 1 before Sumner extended the lead.

Directors Hire Club Manager At Maple Hills
Maple Hills Country Club directors, meeting Monday, hired Dave Ray as club manager.
