Eight Tripoli bowling teams competed in the Northeast Iowa Waterloo Courier Tournament of League Champions. Oberlieu's Restaurant representing the Ten Pin League from Waverly won the Courier Women's Championship with a 2,812 handicap series, featuring Tripoli member Mary Platte. Julius Juel Dies at 84 Father of Local Merchant
Julius Juel 84 of New Hartford and father of local grocer Harry C. Juel died Sunday after a long illness. Funeral services were held Wednesday at the Methodist church, New Hartford, with Dahl Funeral Home of Cedar Falls in charge. A retired farmer born in Denmark, he is survived by his wife, four sons Godfrey of Dike Harry of Tripoli Ernest of Richland Center Wis Arthur of New Hartford, two daughters Edna Greenfield and Marie Meyer of Ackley, and a brother Carl Juel of Melbourne.

The Bremer County Board of Education was chosen by John Shultz and the Iowa State Department of Public Instruction as one of three counties in the United States for a case study on the intermediate district.
