Iowa House Rejects Billboard Ban Bill on Interstate Highways
A last ditch effort to obtain legislative approval of a bill prohibiting billboards along interstate highways failed in the Iowa house. Sponsors were unable to pull the measure from the house sitting committee for floor action. The vote was 59 to 32, two thirds were needed, costing Iowa an estimated 1.7 million dollars from the federal road fund that could have been received if approved.
