Cedar Valley Baseball League Opens Sunday Schedule Announced
The Cedar Valley Baseball League will open Sunday afternoon May 26 with all games at 2:00 p.m. The seven towns Allison Denver Fredericksburg Greene Janesville Readlyn and Tripoli compete in the schedule starting May 26 with matchups including Allison at Readlyn Tripoli at Denver and Janesville at Fredericksburg. The season features weekly games through August with doubleheaders and rotating hosts.

Mr and Mrs E W Kirchhoff marked their 40th wedding anniversary with a Sunday dinner in the former Congregational church parlors. A short program followed with remarks by Rev E F Puhlmann. Attendees came from New Hampton Sheffield Baxter Sumner Cedar Falls Dike Readlyn Fayette and Tripoli. They have two sons Vernon and Dennis in Tripoli and eight grandchildren. The couple farmed northwest of Tripoli for 36 years before moving to Tripoli four years ago.

Nine Bremer County 4-H members were chosen as delegates to the Iowa 4-H Conference in Ames on June 10 to 15. The five girls Bonnie Alcock Judy Lantzky Diane Milius Marilyn Thoms and Susan Werner plus four boys Ross Ager Alan Alcock Arlo Knoploh and Joel Wikner will attend. They will join county presidents Wm Thoms and the elected girls president to assist with the program and receive leadership training under the conference theme Citizenship in Action.

Tripoli merchants will close May 30 for Memorial Day per the Tripoli Commercial Club schedule. Service stations stay open, American Savings Bank and a local liquor store close. Postal windows and rural delivery halt May 30 though the morning star route operates and incoming mail is placed in boxes. Waterloo Couriers run in the afternoon and no outgoing mail is collected.

License Examiners Serve 85 Persons In Morning Session
Iowa Highway Patrol license examiners in Tripoli served 85 people in a Saturday morning session. Fourteen new operator licenses issued, 40 operator renewals, 16 chauffeur renewals, and one new issue. Two reinstatements, seven instruction permits issued. Three driving failures, one written failure, one vehicle failure. Next session set for June 15.
