Operative Bible school conducted by Congregational and St Peter's Evangelical and Reformed churches begins Monday with daily sessions 8 45 to 11 30 a m through Friday June 1. Spotty Start to 1956 Local Fishing Season
Local fishermen report mixed results as the 1956 season opens. Some anglers scored limits of northerns while many went home empty handed. two entries appeared in the Wapsie Sportsmen's Club Largest Fish Contest. Lavern Schumacher of Tripoli caught seven pounds six ounces, and Nonain Smith of Waucoma entered a one pound seven ounce crappie. Prizes include rods, reels, lines, plugs, a tackle box, and thermos, with awards announced at the club’s January dinner.

Funeral Monday for Fred Degelau 90 at Waverly Church
Funeral services were held Monday for Fred Degelau, 90, who died Friday night at Mercy hospital Waverly. Rites were at Kaiser Funeral home and St John s Lutheran church with burial in Harlington cemetery. Survived by four sons Edwin Arthur Albert Irwin and three daughters Bertha Wittenburg Freitag and Mrs Roland Drewis. Wife preceded him on January 13 1955.

Mile Relay Team Heads to State Meet at Ames
Tripoli High School will represent its mile relay team at the state high school track meet in Ames Iowa on Saturday. The quartet of Ron Henninger Gerald Wagner Bob Boeckmann and Terry Dreyer earned their state bid with a Cedar Falls district meet showing that outpaced other districts despite a third place finish. Dreyer added a fourth in the 440 yard dash and the two mile relay group Struck Buchholz Bolte and Boeckmann finished fifth. The Panthers totaled seven district points.
