The first muskie northern pike cross in Iowa appears successful at the Spirit Lake Fish Hatchery. Eggs from a silver northern and muskie milt hatched, with an estimated 10 000 fry possible if survival matches parent species. Fry will be raised in Iowa hatcheries prior to stocking in several lakes for ongoing surveys.
