Scout Fair at amater ial fairgrounds details fair program
Explorer Scouts from Troops in Bremer and Chicka will attend the fair at the amater ial fairgrounds in Waverly on May 11 for a district event. Activities run from 3 PM to 8 PM with booths, firewood derby at 2 PM and a final competition at 7 PM. Scouts from Waverly Nash misburg Plainfield Hampton Denver Nashua and other towns will be on hand. The program includes signaling, compass, doodle relay, fire building and cooking, with exhibits and displays at 4 H Build. All local residents are invited to visit.

An area meeting of pastors and church council members from nine congregations gathered at Grace Lutheran church in Tripoli to discuss current issues. Rev. Bruno Schachtenhausen and Rev. Gabe died Wednesday at Allen Memorial hospital Waterloo after a heart attack. He was born May 1 1896 son of Charles and Ida Gabe. He married Hilda Homeister Aug 20 1935. they farmed near Waverly then retired to Waverly in 1960 and moved to Frederika in 1964. Survived by widow two sons Ernest and Charles of Waverly two daughters Martha Drape Gladbrook and Leona Bailey 14 grandchildren and brother Irvin Gabe Alemena Wis. Casket bearers listed.
