Golden Wedding Anniversary of Schwemm Family Observed
The Schwemm family marked their golden wedding anniversary with an open house Thursday from 2:00 to 5:00 PM and a 6:00 PM supper at their home. Over 100 guests attended as Pastor Goetz gave a short address, with two of Mr Schwemm’s sisters assisting in hosting. The couple’s cake centerpiece featured an open Bible with John 15 12 and the wedding date in gold, surrounded by jonquils and carnations. Their five children and ten grandchildren joined a family dinner the following Sunday.

Ribbeck of Lime Springs Buried Wednesday
C. O. Ribbeck 63, dry cleaning plant operator at Lime Springs Iowa, died Monday March 17 after a long illness. Funeral services were held Wednesday at the Ribbeck home and Lime Springs Lutheran church, with burial in Sumner Lutheran cemetery. He formerly ran a clothing and dry cleaning business with son Fred in Tripoli, later selling to Kuhrt Brothers. Fred started a Lan sing dry cleaning business while the father moved to Lime Springs. Born January 19 1869 in Sheboygan Wisconsin, he moved with his family to Sumner where his father worked in clothing. Surviving are his wife, son Fred of Oklahoma, two grandchildren, brother Irvin Ribbeck of Sumner, and sister Mrs. Robert McAloon of New Hampton.

The executive committee of the Hawkeye group of the Iowa District Women’s Missionary Federation met at Grace Lutheran Church with presidents of affiliated groups. Drive for United Defense Fund Starts March 28
The Bock haus-Bartels Post of the American Legion will sponsor a drive in Tripoli to fund national health and welfare services for defense. Commander Wilbert Meier says starting Friday March 28 a house to house canvas will be conducted. About 80 percent of funds support servicemen and civilians, aiding 50,000 Iowa troops and 10,009,000 homeless Koreans with clothing and supplies.

Scouts Inaugurate Rat Extermination Project in Locality
The Boys Scouts Explorer Post No. 32 led by adviser Roger Wagner launched a local rat extermination effort. Seven trap houses with poisoned meals were placed at strategic bases, marked with poison signs and kept locked to protect animals and children. Funeral services held Tuesday for Mrs Emma Bany
Funeral services for Emma Bany 87 were held Tuesday at St Peter's Evangelical and Reformed church after a Meier funeral home service. Born in Illinois in 1864, she moved to Iowa with her parents, married Henry Bang in 1889, and lived in Tripoli and Waverly. Surviving are three daughters Nora Effie and Fietta, plus five grandchildren and seven great grandchildren. Her husband and one daughter Clara preceded her in death.

Heaviest Snowfall of the Year Signals Spring
Following the robins by a few days, one of the heaviest snowfalls of the year hit on Saturday March 22 1952. Six inches of heavy wet snow blanketed the region with two more inches added the next day. High gales before the storm subsided as snow began, blocking traffic and icing highways. Temperatures ranged from four above to 51. precipitation totaled about two inches for the week. Remodeling Parsonage at St Peter's Church

Miss Janet Frank of West Union, majoring in music at Illinois Wesleyan University Bloomington, received the Sigma Alpha Iota scholarship for highest GPA and was named model pledge by a chapter vote. Enlists in Army Lavern Lohmann Leaves for Missouri Camp
