Bremer County Board of Supervisors adopts a 10 ton gross weight embargo on multiple roadways. The measure, effective March 22 for up to 90 days, covers US and IA highways and county roads from Bremer to Chickasaw and Butler counties, including paths near Tripoli, Denver, and Waverly.
Over worth of new play equipment funded by the Jaycees Lions Club and others will be installed at Prestien Park in Denver. The project, started last August, includes swings merry-go-rounds and spring horses for younger children. Installation is expected in about two weeks once weather permits. Prestien Park will connect to the town park at the southwest edge of Denver. The town has also purchased more picnic tables for parks.
Tripoli Jaycees plan a canvass of businesses and homes on Saturday March 27 to raise funds for a heart lung resuscitator now used by the Tripoli Ambulance Dept. Project chair Vern House says about 516 has been donated so far, mostly from a recent fundraising ballgame, with a $1,500 goal to cover the equipment cost.
Bremer County Health Department reminds contractors that water wells and sewage disposal work must post a $1,000 bond annually. Thirteen local contractors have filed the bond with the Bremer Board of Health. Jahnke urges rural buyers to consult the October 1967 Bremer County Soil Survey for suitable sewage facilities and water availability before purchasing rural lots.
Gaede, who sold his trucking business and bought a Tri house, will auction his farming line including 18 head of cattle 75 shoats and miscellaneous items Monday March 29 at 10 30 am four miles north of Poli. Hexom Bill Dean American S Bank clerk the sale will include 14 head of registered cattle.
Irned returned home at 15 days after hospitalization at Tans Hospital in Iowa City. The brief item notes the discharge from care and residence in Iowa City.

Amateur artists from Benton Butler Bremer Black Hawk Buchanan Tama and Grundy counties will exhibit at the Waterloo Art Association Gallery April 2 24 1971. Entries may include up to two pieces per artist in paintings prints drawings sculpture or up to six craft items.
The Tripoli Woman's Club met March 16 ahead of a style show at Tripoli Town Hall. The County meeting is set for Sumner on March 25 with a 6 15 p.m. dinner in Lutheran Parish Hall. Mrs Mervin Groninga will speak in April on Our Mesquakie Indians at Tama.
Bremer County Extension seeks farm and nonfarm Iowa families to host International Farm Youth Exchange delegates arriving in late May. Delegates stay about three weeks on farms and ten days with urban hosts, under National 4-H Foundation arrangements. Apply by May 1 at the Bremer County Extension Office Tripoli or call 882-4275.
Funeral services for Richard Bast 67 Readlyn blacksmith were held Wednesday at St Matthew s Lutheran Church Readlyn with interment in the church cemetery He died Sunday night March 21 at his home of an apparent heart attack Bast born August 6 1903 in Bernhagen Germany came to America in May 1928 and ran a Readlyn blacksmith shop since then He is survived by his wife Margaret Sassmann two sons Wayne Denver and John at home five grandchildren five brothers and one sister The Cleveland Funeral Home Readlyn directed the services
Dale Shires Bremer County Extension Director announced that applications are due for the International Farm Youth Exchange IFYE program. Former 4-H members aged 20 to 30 who are unmarried may apply. delegates spend five to seven months with host farm families abroad and travel costs are covered.
The JayceeEtte Blue Star program places 65 homes in Tripoli with aims to expand safety for youths. Volunteers needed to display posters and be home during school hours, as Lt. Grimm of Waterloo shares safety experience.

Denver Lions Recreational Novice Tournament drew 584 wrestlers from 20+ area schools on March 20 with a large crowd. Senior and junior divisions featured multiple weight classes and classes A AA and AAA to handle entries, with winners named across all weights.
