The State Services for Crippled Children will hold a diagnostic clinic April 1 at First Presbyterian Church in Oelwein for children under 21 with chronic or crippling conditions from Allamakee Black Hawk Bremer Buchanan Butler Clayton Delaware Fayette Linn and Winneshiek counties. No exam fee. Referrals from physicians or dentists required.

The Iowa State Department of Social Welfare reports February public assistance totals. Bremer county old age assistance paid 137 cases totaling 13128 with 7183 grants 4737 nursing 1208 medical. 52 medical aid for aged cases. nursing 1347 medical 5662 total 7009. ADC had 26 cases 96 beneficiaries total 3804 with 376 medical. Blind 4 cases 310 grants 50 medical total 360. Disabled 7 cases total 494. Statewide February payments reached 4999489, up 60216 from January, with nursing and medical care driving the rise. Old age assistance 251689? total 2516888. aid to dependent children 1692811. aid to blind 116680. aid to disabled 102242. medical aid to aged 570868.
