The bride a Sumner High School 1926 graduate worked as a bank stenographer. groom attended local schools and helps on the farm. They honeymooned at Yellowstone Park and will return in about three weeks to the Staack farm.

Surprised on Their Silver Wedding Readlyn Special
A 140 guest party surprised Mr and Mrs Henry Bahe at their Readlyn home on June 10 to honor their 25th wedding anniversary. Rec C Meyer from St Matthews Lutheran delivered the address from Psalm 19:1, with hymns, dinner at 5 PM, and a silver and white cake plus bouquets. Present were friends from their 25 years ago, including John Niedert Herman Niedert Mrs Henry Buhr and Mrs Rudolph Hoffman of Belgrade. A silver purse was given, and a later lunch followed before departures. Harold Bahe led the surprise with help from their son and daughter in law. Attendees from a distance included Fred Bahe Wm Wangler Rudolph Hoffman and C Schwartz of Waterloo.

John Brandt of Litchfield Minnesota delivered a strong address to about 2,000 at the annual farm bureau picnic near Tripoli on Monday the 15th. He traced cooperative marketing gains across dairy farmers, urged strong advertising, and noted price margins in Oklahoma dairying. Elkader Boy 15 Drowned in Turkey River near Lover's Leap
Donald Wacker, 15, a Elkader high school sophomore, drowned Sunday afternoon in the Turkey river near Lover's Leap. He lacked good swimming ability and was with Darrell Huggins and Ted Anderson who could not keep him afloat. His body was found Sunday night about 200 feet from where last seen. He was the son of Mr and Mrs Frank Wacker and survived by two sisters. Funeral services set for Wednesday at 2:30 p.m. at Elkader Evangelical Church with burial in East Side Cemetery.

Readlyn Tigers Run Over Tripoli In Cedar Valley Derby

Rev Father T R Collins celebrates 25 years as priest
More than two hundred St Marys parishioners and friends gathered at the church parlors last Friday evening to honor Rev Father T R Collins on his twenty fifth year as a priest. The event included a gift of a solid white gold wrist watch for Father Collins from the congregation, a fine program by the parish youth, and remarks by several clergy. Father Collins, ordained in St Paul Minnesota on June 12 1906, celebrated his first mass in Nevada Iowa on June 14. He taught Latin at Columbia College Dubuque for twelve years, then served at Waverly before becoming pastor here nine years ago.

Youth bicyclist injured in city auto collision
Wendell Briner twelve year old son of Mr and Mrs Ned Briner was struck by a car driven by Mr Matthias of Readiya near the WCFN station while riding a bicycle. The front wheel broke off and he was thrown to the pavement. He was treated at a doctor’s office then Mercy Hospital for a back and shoulder injury and a leg cut requiring stitches. He is able to move with difficulty but escaped a worse outcome.
