Rites for Geo Lindsley Held in Minnesota Funeral
Funeral services for Geo M Lindsley 79 former Tripoli resident were conducted Monday at First Presbyterian Church Jackson Minnesota by Rev Henry E Fawcett. Lindsley born August 3 1888 in Jackson Minnesota died July 26 in St Anthony Hospital Carroll Iowa after a long career as teacher superintendent and county superintendent of schools. He served in World War I and held memberships in multiple fraternal and religious orders. Surviving are brother E L Lindsley of Nashua and 12 nieces and nephews.

Max Ambrose, a Tripoli High senior, severed the Achilles tendon in his left foot during a brief sprint at practice. He had previously torn it in spring 1968 and undergone surgery, had just been cleared, and was hospitalized after the latest operation at Allen Memorial Hospital in Waterloo.

The Wapsie Valley girls softball team earned a state tournament berth by defeating Plainfield 12 to 2 in six innings at the Hawkeye district site. They previously beat Rockwell Swaledale 17 to 4, while Plainfield beat North of West Union 5 to 2. They will face West Monona on August 1 at 7 p.m. at Hubbard with semifinals set for August 5 and the finals on August 6.
