The Iowa Bicentennial Commission endorses the program and Council plans a special session July 15 to discuss a government grant for updating the sewage disposal system in Tripoli.
Bremer County and its cities were listed with July revenue sharing totaling 87,203 and year to date payments at 1,506,806. Nationwide revenue sharing has sent 26.7 billion to over 38,600 governments. Mrs Anna Slack remains hospitalized at St Marys in Rochester for the past three weeks.
The Waverly Senior Citizens group plans a five day trip to Gunflint Lodge on the Canadian border from October 11 to 15. An advance registration of 25 dollars is due by July 26 at the Center, with the balance paid at the lodge. The total cost is 161.10 for up to 30 participants, or 143.20 if more than 30 join, covering transport, four nights lodging and meals.
Readlyn plans a weekend of events for its Bicentennial with parades at 9 30 a m and a full afternoon of entertainment including a stage show a fashion display and a parachute jump in the city park Saturday July 17.
Tripoli Panthers defeated Sumner 10 8 in an eight inning opening round of the sectional baseball tournament. Both teams produced six run innings as the game unfolded with late drama.
A Sumner pair, Mr. and Mrs. Mel Harms, won the husband wife event at Maple Hills Country Club with an 81. Multiple flights listed winners from Sumner Waterloo Grundy Center Tripoli and Parkersburg with varied scores. Nomination papers for the Tripoli School District director election are available for the annual election. The board seats are for a term in the school district and the election date is set for Tuesday, September 4.

Nomination papers for a school board vacancy are due by August 5 at 5:00 p.m., with incumbent director Robert H. Kuhrt noting Lloyd Moeller seeks another term after nine years. ISU spring Dean’s list includes Gaylen Drape, Douglas Lindner, Randy Leyh, Steve Rosenow, Matthew Sexton, and Patrick Sexton. Frederika Bicentennial barbecue feed drew over 600 attendees. correction: 600 barbecued chickens served over 10 persons.
Tripoli Commercial Club hosts an annual picnic Monday at Maple Hills Country Club. Social hour begins at 6 00 p m and steak supper at 6 30 p m with steak provided for grilling. Attendance committee will contact members for reservations and report to Ray Bunger by noon Saturday.
Iowa Highway Patrol driver license examining team will be at Tripoli city hall on Saturday July 17 from 8 40 a m to 11 45 a m Renewals issued until closing time but tests end at 11 15 a m The team will not return to Tripoli until Saturday August 21.
