H H Hoppenworth of Tripoli was elected president for a two year term to lead Area No 4 of the Iowa District Brotherhoods of the American Lutheran Church. At the Greater Bremer County Committee meeting in Readlyn President Fred Grawe formed a committee to explore a Bremer County Jubilee Day. Proposed by William A. Kuker of Tripoli the event would feature a high school band festival sporting contests exhibits and talent displays. The group also aims for 1952 to act as a pressure group to maintain county roads and to push for enlarged and maintained bridges.

Leg Amputation Reported For H. H. Sorg
HAS LEG AMPUTATED H. H. Sorg, former drug store operator here, who submitted to major surgery in Rochester a week ago, has also now submitted to the amputation of his left leg just above the knee, the amputation occurring Friday morning. His condition was critical following the amputation but is now reported as improved. His wife and their son, Fritz, of Marion, have been staying with him at Rochester.

Narrow Escape at Sale Barn Fire Injures Mrs Snyder
Mrs J M Snyder narrowly escaped death when a stove exploded at the Sale barn Thursday evening. The blast burned her face and arms, and set her hair afire. Sleeves on her sweater burned in two in several places. Her injuries were painful but not critical.
