Labor union election set for Farmers Produce Co workers
The National Labor Relations Board announced a representation election for employees of Farmers Produce Co to decide if District Local Union No. 431, Amalgamated Meat Cutters and Butcher Workmen, AFL-CIO should be their bargaining agent. Voting with secret ballots will be held next Wednesday from 4 to 5 pm at the plant in TriPol and Denver.

Last Rites Thursday At Buck Creek For Charles Krueger
Charles Krueger 91 died Monday at Sumner Community hospital after a lengthy illness. Funeral services are set for Thursday at 1:30 p m Berg Funeral Home and 2 p m at St John s Lutheran Buck Creek with burial in the church cemetery. Born January 13 1865 in Germany he immigrated to the United States at age 3. He married Louise Wilharm September 25 1896 in Sumner she preceded him in death. Krueger served 30 years as secretary of Little Valley Creamery and was a longtime Dayton township assessor active in the Democratic party and the oldest member of St John s Lutheran. Surviving are three daughters Mrs August A Buhr Mrs Will Ganske and Mrs A F Miller all of Sumner a son the Rev George W Krueger of Hallettsville Texas 16 grandchildren and 34 great grandchildren.

The Wapsie Sportsmen's Club held its annual Ladies' Night dinner at the Town hall with about 125 attendees. Plans were announced to clear the Tot's Lake picnic area this weekend with two men using chain saws Saturday at 9 30 and members cleaning Sunday afternoon with volunteer help urged. The club also voted to rejoin the All Iowa Conservation Council.

Last Rites Today At Frederika For Seth A. McGee
Funeral services were held today in Frederika for Seth A. McGee 66 who died Sunday after a five year illness. The rites were at Rettig Funeral home Tri poli and the Methodist church with Rev. Carl Carlsen officiating. Burial followed in Alcock cemetery with six casket bearers. He was born April 9 1889 in Dresden township Chickasaw county and married Mabel Rice in 1918. He farmed and painted and served in WWI and the AAA farm program and was town assessor for 16 years. He belonged to the Sumner American Legion and the Thomas E Woods post. He is survived by his wife a stepson Carol Rice and a sister Mrs D E Chadwick.

Tripoli cagers end season with sectional tourney loss
Tripoli High boys hoops wrapped their 1955-56 season at New Hampton last Thursday, losing 69-58 to Sumner in the first round. The Panthers finished 14 wins 7 losses, won Bremer county title, but were swept by Sumner in both county and sectional play. Armin Pipho led Sumner with 28 points while Carlyle Nicklaus had 24 for Tripoli.
