License Examiners Issue Renewals at Town Hall Saturday
License examiners were at the Town Hall Saturday to issue driver license renewals to 49 persons. Five new licenses were issued and four instruction permits. Sixteen chauffeur licenses were renewed and one new one issued. Two driver training permits granted. Two persons failed the written exams in trying to obtain renewals as did one person who sought a new license. One failed to obtain a driver training permit and another failed to get an instruction permit.
Funeral Services for Hulda Bock Held Monday
Funeral services for Hulda Bock were held Monday at St Peter's Evangelical and Reformed Church Tripoli with Rev E F Puhlmann and son Rev Gerald Bock officiating. Interment followed in the church cemetery. Casket bearers were Ernest Drewis Clarence Forberg Orlyn Milius William Bull Theodore Debel and Edward Koch. Hulda Bock born Emilie Peiper Krueger on January 18 1890 in LeRoy Township died after emergency surgery following illness. She married William Hagen in 1912 and after his death remarried Theodore Bock in 1927. She lived on farms in LeRoy Township before moving to Tripoli four years ago. She was 70. She leaves husband two daughters a son six grandchildren two brothers and one sister. Preceded by parents and a sister. The obituary notes memberships and family ties.

Lyman Chester Chapin 51 died at Rath Packing Co Waterloo while at work Thursday. Funeral services were Sunday at Rettig Funeral Home and First Congregational church Tripoli with Rev John A Nansen officiating. Burial in Fremont cemetery. Survivors include wife Dorothy Heine Chapin four daughters Jean Kathleen and two others, a son Jeffrey, father W D Chapin, brother Lynn Chapin and sisters Dorothy Kirchhoff Ruth Woodcock and three grandchildren. He was preceded by his mother and one brother Gleason.

The Tripoli Cub Scout pack 32 observed Scouting’s golden jubilee with a 6:30 p.m. potluck dinner. Mr. and Mrs. Lucbs lifelong residents celebrate 60th wedding anniversary with a family dinner at noon on Sunday February 28 at their home and an open house for neighbors friends and relatives from 2:00 to 4:00 p.m. The couple married February 28 1900 at St Peter's Evangelical and Reformed Church by the late Rev. Funeral services for Harry F. Schmidt were held Saturday at 1 45 p m at Rettig Funeral Home and 2 p m at First Congregational Church Tripoli with Rev John A Nansen officiating pallbearers included Walter Schultz Kenneth Chapin Lawrence Schwartz Fred Holm William Grebein and Ray McKeown He was born November 10 1888 on a farm near Tripoli and died February 17 in a Waterloo hospital after a heart attack He married Gertrude Gunsalus in Tripoli April 26 1911 and later lived in Tripoli and Waterloo He is survived by his wife three sons Donald Robert and Richard five daughters Zatha Skeries Naomi Meyer Betty Hills Helen Walker and Colleen Claypool a brother John Schmidt and two sisters Louise Luchs and Amanda Schrank plus 24 grandchildren and three great grandchildren. A son and a grandson preceded him in death.
